Spring seems so near and yet so far away, doesn't it? You want to get into the garden and yet...its really too cold. And what happened to the sun? But the daffodils are stirring, and the heleobore are beginning to emerge. Right now the world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful, in the words of e.e. cummings, and its lovely just to kneel in the still-fallow garden to hunt for new growth among the dead leaves. A generous customer brought us some extra scabiosa seeds from her garden and we are planting them in starter cups. Peepers are starting up in the marshy areas nearby. Local asparagus is about to appear in stores again. The days are getting longer. What will this new season bring? It's delicious to contemplate.
